What does being smart really mean? Students think that having a good memory is a sign of being smart Original

Hello. This is Tenmei Watanabe from Seito Medical School. This time it's about smartness for me.

Of course, there's also the idea of being smart for everyone. However, I think there will be pros and cons even if I personally explain how smart people are for everyone, so I would like to focus on how smart people are for me personally.

First of all, being smart for me means having a good memory. I think this is one type that everyone can think of as a standard of intelligence.

This is what you might call a genius type of intelligence, and it can be said to be a useful skill for things like paper tests. On the other hand, there is also a type of genius that is different from a genius.

When you think of geniuses, you might think of names like Einstein and Newton, but they founded a new discipline called physics.

This type can be said to have excellent creativity, a skill that cannot be produced even with a good memory. In other words, genius is creativity, and that creative side is valued.

I'm here to tell you a story that may be valuable to some people. In conclusion, my conclusion is that being smart involves a good memory, good creativity, and a variety of other skills.

I'm just an average person, but I've been studying for the past 15 or 6 years. During that time, I have read theories created by various geniuses and textbooks created by geniuses, but when I want to create a theory, I have to simultaneously have both the breakthrough thinking skills of a genius and the conventional logic of a genius. It can be said that it is necessary.

For example, I recently had the opportunity to study Fibonacci formulas, and I read a book that describes the Fibonacci sequence, which at first glance seems to be difficult to derive regularity from.

That's when I realized that the first introduction to the formula required a genius idea, but the process from the introduction to the formalization of the formula required specialized skills.

The book is ``Beginner Number Theory'' by JH Silverman, Maruzen Publishing, original 3rd edition. If you are interested, please buy it and read it.

In other words, genius and genius are not two completely different things; instead, there is a division of roles in which a genius comes up with the first idea using a genius idea, and a genius brings that idea to life using specialized techniques. I think it is.

I also wanted to study physics, but I don't know much about it yet, but Newton founded physics from a mathematical problem called differential and integral calculus, and geniuses created a huge amount of research materials that followed. I think it has been developed as a theory.

In other words, if you want to do intellectual labor, the question is which side is stronger. If you are good at reproducing the same thing every time using specialized techniques, you can be a genius and improve your knowledge, and if you can come up with ideas that no one else has come up with every time, you can be a genius. It's okay if you create a template.

In other words, genius alone will not develop a theory, and genius alone will not create something new.

As an amateur researcher, I used to research things like how to solve prime factorization as a hobby, but even if you have the creativity of a genius, if no one pays attention to his achievements, you won't become a genius. If there is no one who comes up with innovative ways to create opportunities, there is no way to expand the ideas.

I also went to university, but I don't know much about any subject, so I sometimes feel jealous that university is such a great environment where I can easily ask questions.

I don't know if I'm a genius or not, but I'm good at coming up with ideas, and I believe that if I had specialized knowledge, I could make even more progress, so even now in my mid-30s, I continue to study.

After all, that's it. Even if you say study, if you are just learning knowledge that has no use, it is better than no knowledge at all, but it can be said to be in the realm of self-satisfaction. Knowledge shines as a treasure only when there is an environment where it can be used.

I'm also a study buff, but I don't think I would have spent this much time studying if I wasn't doing research as a hobby. I've been an amateur researcher for 6 and a half years, and I've been studying for about 15 or 16 years, so the story about studying may be groundless.

Therefore, intellectual labor requires the cooperation of many geniuses, brilliant talents, and those who support the environment around them. You don't have to worry about wondering what type you are. If you are a member of society, she will naturally be assigned to a job that she is good at.

If you're a member of society, results are everything, and if you can't produce results, you won't be able to stay in that position for long. On the other hand, if you are found to have good taste, it is possible that you will be selected for a major promotion, although it will depend on the culture of the company.

The genius who first comes up with an idea, the genius who expands on that idea, or the supporting role. Society is made up of all kinds of people.

An idea will never come to fruition with just brilliant intelligence or genius creativity. Students probably think that having a good memory is a sign of being smart. Because that's how you get points on the test.

However, in reality, the important thing is how you can bring out your best in a complex intertwining of various smarts. Even for students who lack confidence in themselves due to poor memory, the standards by which they are evaluated will change once they enter the workforce, so it may be a good idea to take steps toward that goal. that's all. See you soon.
